Cast iron grill discs offer a number of advantages that make them a popular choice for camping and campfire enthusiasts: Even heat distribution: Cast iron retains heat excellently and distributes it evenly over the surface, preventing food from burning and facilitating even cooking. High heat retention capacity: Cast iron can heat up to very high temperatures, which is ideal for searing meat until it forms an appetizing crust. Resistance to damage: Cast iron is a very durable material that is not afraid of scratches from metal spatulas or other tools and can last for decades with proper care. Versatility: A cast iron disc can be roasted, stewed, baked and even cooked pizza, making it a versatile tool in the camping kitchen. Suitable for use on open fires: Cast iron can withstand direct contact with open flames, making it ideal for campfire use. Natural Non-Stick Surface: Over time and with proper care, cast iron forms a natural non-stick coating known as patina. This layer improves the properties of the pan and makes cooking and cleaning easier. Retenion of heat: Due to its ability to retain heat, cast iron is excellent for serving food directly on the table, keeping it warm for a long time. Cast iron discs require some care, including regular oiling to prevent rusting and maintain non-stick properties. However, with proper use and care, cast iron cookware can last a lifetime, improving over the years.
